Cityscape Winery – Expansion Update

We recently stopped by CityScape Winery to check on the construction progress of their new 10,000+ sq. ft. tasting room and production facility.

With an expected finish date in December, 2021, it’s very exciting to see the building really coming along.

I took the first two pictures below on our recent visit.

Side View
View of the Front

Co-owner and winemaker Josh Jones sent me two additional pictures. Josh, also an accomplished wedding photographer, takes some great shots.

View from the Vineyard
View of the Back!

From Josh’s latest pictures, looks like the building is in the dry! The roof has been raised!

Cityscape Winery has posted several recent updates on Facebook!

Check out this cool post of the drawing showing the new soon to be installed 16’ fermentation tanks!

Another shot shared from the vineyard gives a glimpse of just majestic the new building will stand over the Cityscape Vineyards.

One the most awesome shots shared on Cityscape Winery’s social media, was this aerial view highlighting the open-air courtyard/atrium.

It seems the grand new building has found favor from above as graced by this beautiful rainbow!

The building is nearing completion and we’re bursting with anticipation! How exciting for the local wine industry! we’ll keep you updated on the progress plus an upcoming grand opening celebration! Cheers to you, Cityscape Winery!

Carolina’s Harvest 2021

2021 harvest at North and South Carolina vineyards is winding down.

We thought it’d be fun to take a look at harvest pictures from around the Carolina’s

Cartersville Country Winery in Timmonsville, SC harvests the muscadine with an automatic harvester.

The coolest winery in the Carolina’s was showing off their beautiful bountiful harvest of Cabernet Franc!

Raffaldini Vineyards in the Yadkin Valley AVA showing off harvested fruit drying out Appassimento style!

Tony at Wellborn Winery in Travelers Rest put in use the old ratchet press!

Many small vineyards rely on volunteers, or friends as in the case of Dover Vineyards in Concord! Most small vineyards harvest by hand.

Many harvest in wee hours of the morning, such is the case at Marked Tree Vineyard in Flat Rock.

2021 appears to have been an excellent harvest. Just look at the beautiful Petit Verdot from Haze Gray Vineyards in Dobson.

Chuck and his team at Shadow Springs Vineyard were smiling about the big juicy Chambourcin.

Indeed harvest requires long days of hard work such as at Addison Farms Vineyard up above Asheville.

So go visit a local winery and raise your glass to the harvest of 2021!

Here Here, to a full and bountiful harvest! Cheers to local wine! 🍷🍷

Lullaby – Rusty Nail Winery

A solid sweet drinking wine from West Virginia.

If you enjoy sweet wines, this one will please you palate.

It’s a porch pounder perfect for hot summer days!

JenNis Beverage Marketing score of 86 points!

Our friends camped through Harvest Host at the Rusty Nail Winery.

Thrilled they thought enough to bring us back a bottle.

The varietal confused us, we knew it wasn’t Vinifera nor Muscadine and felt certain it was a native varietal.

However, the color through us off. We guessed rosé of Norton or a Lambrusco red and white blend.

Due to this confusion, we reached out to Owner/Winemaker Mike Crate.

Mike educated us on Pink Catawba, and we learned a “whole bunch!”

Pink Catawba fruit develops less pigment with a lighter reddish-purplish skin than regular Catawba and thereby imparting a beautiful rosé color to this wine.

Pink Catawba is a cross of Catawba and of another unknown parent grape , though many believe the other parent to be the Vinifera Semillion.

The Rusty Nail Winery is a small family farm vineyard and winery operation, just opened three years ago.

The winery sits a good 45 minutes from the next nearest neighboring winery, so yeah it’s a little out of the way. However, if you find your way traveling Interstate 81 towards Martinsburg, West Virginia, please make a little time and stop in for an enjoyable visit!

They’ve a great story to tell and very interesting wines to taste!
