It was a busy 2021, we were fortunate to organize two wine competitions in spite of Covid.
The first North Carolina Mead-Cider-Fruit Wine Competition with judging held in Flat Rock and the first ever American Sangria Challenge held in Tryon.
For 2022, we’re planning our two state competitions.
May of 2022, will be judging for the Palmetto Wine Competition.

Our plan this year, is to return the judging and awards dinner to The Belmont Inn in Abbeville, South Carolina.
Amazingly, we have our judging panels all committed!
We’re so excited for the 2022 Palmetto Wine Competition, as a couple of new wineries have opened in South Carolina.
Bigger and Better!!!
In August of 2022, we hold the second North Carolina Mead, Cider, and Fruit Wine Competition.
The first NC MCF was a huge success and we’re ultra excited to build this brand.

Several producers were very receptive and a few were very….well just say less than enthusiastic!
It’s ok…we’re used to it! We’ll win’em over this year!
After all, our NCMCF Judging panel consisted of the likes of,
Chuck Blethen – past President of the French Broad Vignerons / award winning amateur cider maker / and mega experienced competition judge.
Chris Frey, former American Home Brewers Association Board Member and experienced Mazer Cup competition judge.
Mike Tripka, award-winning mead/cider maker at Bee-Town Mead and Cider / BJCP certified Mead Judge / past president and judge of Savannah’s Domras Cup Competition.
Plus several other commercially successful award/winning mead and cider makers.
2022 looks to be a busy yet immensely fun year of promoting locally craft produced beverages!
Our ultimate goal with our competitions remains to positively influence and promote the quality of locally produced commercial craft beverages.
Here’s to 2022 and the Drink Local Movement!!
Cheers! 🥂
