Kan-gria – Parker-Binns Vineyard

Our wine tonight is the Kan-Gria from Parker-Binns Vineyard in the Tryon Foothills of North Carolina.

Estate grown red wine with natural spices.

Color of freshly squeezed cranberry juice.

The nose is tropical with hints of pink grapefruit and red plum.

12% ABV

Fruit forward profile bursting of red berries such as huckleberries, mulberries, and wild blackberries with pomegranate and bing cherry. Mid-palate unmask hints of citrus, blood orange, lime, and cilantro. The finish shows soft notes of lavender, vanilla, and strawberry.

Sangria is a Spanish term describing a mix of red wine and fruit! Sangria is really booming at craft wineries as a summer drink of choice. Could Sangria replace rosé as the next big summer wine? We think so!

Parker-Binns jumped ahead of the curve canning their sangria…..uh Kan-Gria!

Don’t be afraid to blend with a little coconut rum!

Shadow Springs Vineyard and their nearby sister winery Windsor Run Cellars can be found within a half mile of each other in the Hamptonville community.

Owners Chuck and Jamie Johnson have built something special out in their neck of the Yadkin Valley woods. It’s not uncommon to see a horse and buggy traveling down the road in front of the winery as an established Amish settlement is just nearby. The entire vibe just seems to be a get away from the norm.

Don’t forget leave time for a tasting at WRC Distillery. Yes, on site, a distillery just below the Windsor Run Cellars tasting room. Crafting liquors from their estate grown grapes.

Snapped – Elevation 966 Winery

Snapped is a Holiday wine offering from Elevation 966 Winery in Greenville, South Carolina.

Grape wine with natural flavors.

We would guess a Riesling base.

Deep lemon in color.

Sweet with nicely balanced acidity.

Pronounced nose of cinnamon and nutmeg, with notes reminiscent of holiday spiked eggnog.

Flavor notes of freshly baked gingerbread cookies, prominent of nutmeg and cinnamon with a finish of plantains and roasted almonds.

A very good Holiday wine and at 12.5% ABV will keep you feeling festive!

We enjoyed it chilled though feel like it would drink just as well warmed on a cold winters day.

One of the benefits of being an urban winery is the opportunities for being creative.

Elevation 966 winemaker Donnie Raulston has proven a willingness to take creative risk in winemaking.

We’re pronouncing this risk a huge success! Great job.
