Our esteemed judges are commercial winemakers in neighboring states, or hold certifications such as Viticulture & Enology Degrees, American Wine Society Certified Judge, or high-level Wine Spirits Education Trust certification.

The 2024 Palmetto Wine Competition was judged Saturday May 18, 2024 in Landrum, South Carolina. 
Our panel of experienced judges hold certifications from the American Wine Society and the Wine Spirits Education Trust. Several are wine industry professionals such as winemakers and viticulturists with years of experience!

Gold Medal and Best Estate Grown Wine is the 2023 Single Vineyard White Muscadine from Cityscape Winery in Pelzer, which earned 92 points.
This is the second year in which a wine from this vineyard has won Best Estate Wine in the Palmetto Wine Competition.
As earlier announced, our Best in Show and only Double Gold Medal winner in the 2024 Palmetto Wine Competition is the Blueberry from Island Winery on Hilton Head Island.
This semi-sweet fruit wine is made from 100% blueberries all grown in South Carolina! Here’s to our winners. π₯π₯π₯

The vines at Deep Water Vineyard on Wadmalaw Island were planted twenty-three years ago! These old vines are starting to produce some amazing fruit and thereby Best in Show award-winning wine!

The 2023 Palmetto Wine Competition is scheduled for June 10th, 2023 at The Belmont Inn, downtown historic Abbeville, South Carolina. The Palmetto Wine Competition focuses on increasing awareness of South Carolina’s commercially produced wine, mead, and cider.
The PALMETTO WINE COMPETITION is open to any commercially available wines, meads, and ciders produced by state licensed South Carolina Wineries.
The 2023 Palmetto Wine Competition is actively accepting sponsors.

The Palmetto Wine Competition seeks to increase public awareness of the twenty-plus commercially licensed wine, cider, and mead producers of South Carolina. All of our producers are locally family-owned small businesses.
