Our 3rd Annual Celebration of Chambourcin wine competition is open for entry. This comp receives entries from Missouri to Virginia and all in between.

🏆 The inaugural 2022 Celebration of Chambourcin Best-in-Show winner was from Mountain Run Winery in Virginia.

🏆 The 2023 Best-in-Show was from Broken Horseshoe Winery & Vineyard in Georgia!

🥇🥇 Both were phenomenal representations of Chambourcin wine!

2nd Annual

Results are in for 2023! In keeping with our policy, we’ll only announce Gold and Silver award winners. A total of 25 entries were judged.

2023 Best in Show and Double Gold is the 2022 Chambourcin from Broken Horse Vineyard in Crandall, Georgia.

Gold medal winning wines are Paco Rojo from Fabbioli Cellars in Leesburg, Virginia, 2021 LuLu Red from Parker-Binns Vineyard in Tryon Foothills, North Carolina, and the Chambourcin from Baker Buffalo Creek Vineyard in Lawndale, North Carolina.

Silver medals are awarded to the 2017 Morchella from The Holotype Wine Company in The Shawnee Hills AVA of Illinois, the 2021 Chambourcin from Fabbioli Cellars, 2022 Ruby Sky, a rosè from Pennington Wines in Carthage, Missouri, also from Pennington Wines, the 2022 Chambourcin, the 2022 Chambourcin from Hidden Vineyards in the Yadkin Valley AVA of North Carolina, and the 2022 Copperhead from Stonewall Creek Vineyards in North Georgia.

JenNis Beverage Marketing has organized wine competitions since 2016.

Each wine must be minimum 50% Chambourcin! We need entries from every state in which Chambourcin is grown!

Expertly Certified and highly experienced judges! The competition will be blind judged in a single-pour non-flighted format!

Deadline for Entry: November 8, 2023

Judging Scheduled: November 11, 2023

Judging Location: Asheville, North Carolina.

Entry Fee: $65

Commercial entries only.

Each wine scored on a 100 point scale. 

Featuring custom designed award medals!! 

Medals will be awarded for Double Gold, Gold, Silver, and Bronze wines. Judges average score and feedback provided!

2022

Best in Show for the 2022 inaugural Celebration of Chambourcin was the 2018 Chambourcin from Mountain Run Winery in Culpepper, Virginia.

The Best in Show and double gold winning Chambourcin is produced of estate grown fruit, 85% Chambourcin blended with 15% Petit Verdot, and aged 12 months in French Oak barrels.

A gold medal was awarded to Pea Ridge Red from Parker-Binns Vineyards in the Tryon Foothills of North Carolina.

A gold medal was also awarded to the 2021 Chambourcin from Fifty-Third Winery and Vineyard.

Our final gold medal was awarded to the Coosa Rosé from Grapes and Ladders in Elijah, Georgia.

The Inaugural Celebration of Chambourcin is Set!

Judging is scheduled for November 12th, 2022 in Asheville, North Carolina. Deadline for receipt of entries is November 9th.

Judges

We strive to seat a panel of judges with diverse certifications and industry experience. Our judges work and live in the Southeastern United States and have years of experience with Chambourcin and French-American Hybrids.

The competition is blind judged. We do not judge in flights to minimize the chance of competing bouquets on the table.

Our judges have years of wine competition experience and individually hold the following certifications.

1. Degree, Viticulture & Enology – Surry Community College

2. Wine Spirits Education Trust Diploma & Level’s 2 & 3.

3. American Wine Society Certified Judge.

4. French Broad Vignerons Wine Fault Certified.
