The following have been approved by the TTB as grape type variety names and may be used as a type designation on American wine labels.
Macabeo – Vitis Vinifera, White varietal originating from Spain
Parellada – Vitis Vinifera, White varietal originating from Spain
Frappato – Vitis Vinifera, Red varietal originating from Italy.
Colorino – A synonym for Lambrusco.
Trincadeira – A synonym for Tinta Amarela – Vitis Vinifera- Originating from Portugal, often used in Port wine.
Grenache Gris – Pinkish grey mutation of the red Grenache varietal. It tends to appear in the vineyard only among other Grenache vines and is often field blended.
Garnacha Roja – Synonym for Grenache Gris.
Garanoir – Vitis Vinifera, red varietal originating from Switzerland.
Greco Bianco – White grape most likely originating from Italy.
Clarion – Vitis Hybrid, cold hardy white developed at University of Minnesota.
Catarratto – Vitis Vinifera, White grape originating from Italy.
Gouais Blanc – Vitis Vinifera, white grape originating from Central Europe.
